Privacy and Data Protection

Keeping your data safe

When you sign up to the project as a volunteer participant we collect some personal data for processing, sending out kits, and we will contact you from time to time with news about the project by email or by post.

To do this we require consent under the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

Consent is requested when you complete the questionnaire. Our questionnaire is approved by the Ethics Committee at the University of Bristol.

You are entitled to change your mind and withdraw your consent at any time, done by contacting us at sciencecats-project@bristol.ac.uk. You also have the right to request a copy of the data that we hold on you, to rectify the data if it is inaccurate or incomplete, and for data to be erased from our records.

All personal details disclosed are kept confidential and protected. Personal data is kept separate from scientific data. We will keep any personal data only for as long as it is relevant for the project and useful for the purpose for which it was originally collected. Your personal information is not disclosed to any third parties.

The ScienceCats website does not collect any information about visitors, such as cookies, device IDs, IP addresses or location data. The only time we collect data is when you complete the questionnaire.
